Hawaii Vacation
After visiting Pearl Harbor, we boarded the NCL Pride of America that afternoon and set sail at 8:00 P.M. The next morning we awoke to the beautiful eastern coast line of the Big Island of HAwaii (8-26-07)
The ship docked in Hilo, and Late in the morning we boarded a charter bus and headed to the Mauna Loa macadamia Nut farm.
After a short stop at the nut farm, the bus drove southwest to the Hawaii Valcanoes National Park.
We visited the Jagger Museum/Obseratory and drove around the Volcano on Crater Rim drive. A number of times we were able to get out of the bus and walk on the dry lava and feel steam coming out of holes.
We also toured the
Thurston Lava Tubes which is basically a cave formed from the underground flow of lava.
